This project is a study of the relationship between language and image. With an introduction to a research by design methodology, this project has the goal to acquire knowledge about the relationship between images and language, through the systematic creation of image series to support my question. I asked the question: When can a sense of individuality be discovered through text and image? I explored the process of how much a name has individuality, compared to when it develops into new forms and personal compositions. A name is often considered to be very personal, but if not recognized or familiar, has no meaning. I wanted to learn when vague text transforms into something more. By deconstructing the letter forms in my name, focusing on the negative space, this exploration shows the different stages of how text developed into individual expression
